Researchers and growers all over the world are confirming the crucial role of broad-spectrum mineral nutrition in promoting the health and vitality of soil, plants, animals, and humans.
Compost supplemented with rock dust is assisting the sustainability of Sinaloa’s farmers after last year’s cold snap. Last February a cold snap that lasted one week destroyed 90% of the corn crop in the Mexican State of Sinaloa in what many have been described as the worst disaster in Sinaloa’s history. Other crops such as tomatoes, chickpeas, green beans, squash, and chilli peppers were also devastated. Thousands of farmers were affected with the overall cost estimated at $23 billion.
Action for Australian Soils
Written by Munash Natural Fertilizers Ian Munro and Rebecca DjordjevicUnder our feet, is a resource that can change the world, halt climate change, reduce sickness and ensure food security for future generations. There is an urgent need to rejuvenate the soil by turning back the clock and looking at natural sources of food that will nourish the soil rather than degrade it. While people don’t think much about soil, it quietly and continuously services life on earth.
Topsoil is the result of a long, gradual process in which parent materials (rocks) weather and mix with decaying vegetation. The most lasting and thorough restoration of topsoil lies in imitating and accelerating the natural processes that originally created it.

VIDEO: Rock Dust and Biochar as a Strategy for Carbon Sequestration (at SER2011)
Written by Dasha GaianRTE has filmed a discussion on the potential role of remineralization to sequester carbon and stabilize the climate. Three prominent speakers participated in the discussion during SER2011, the 4th World Conference on Ecological Restoration in Merida, Mexico: Dr. Goreau, President of the Global Coral Reef Alliance and Coordinator of the UN Commission (SIDSPINST), Ron Larson, an expert on biochar, and Albert Bates, author and director of the Institute for Appropriate Technology.
Outstanding Results of Dr. Goreau's Rock Dust Trials in Panama at SER2011
Written by Dasha GaianDr. Thomas Goreau's research study showing an 8-fold increase in biomass volume of trees remineralized with basalt rock dust, was presented at SER2011 by RTE's executive director Joanna Campe. Click "read more" to view and download the presentation.
What is remineralization? What are its benefits? Where is it being used? The answers to these questions and many others can be found in this concise, informative presentation on the basic principles and practices of soil remineralization.

4th World Conference
on Ecological Restoration
Mérida, Mexico - August 21-25, 2011
Dr. Thomas Goreau, Harvard Ph.D. in Biogeochemistry and President of the Global Coral Reef Alliance, will be presenting a major new research paper at the upcoming World Conference on Ecological Restoration in Mérida, Mexico. During a 5-year research project in Panama in which tree seedlings were planted into a variety of soils, the plot remineralized with crushed basalt rock powder got astonishing results: a 2.17 increase in height and 8 times the biomass tree volume.
