Weathering of soils from the wet and dry regions of Sri Lanka was strongly affected by the contrasting climatic conditions. Results from geochemical analysis showed that the highly weathered soils from the wet regions had very low nutrient reserves compared to the parent rock and the soils from the dry regions. The need to restore and maintain the fertility of these soils is discussed. |
