Brazil Conference on Remineralization!

From September 21-24, 2009, the Brazilian Conference of Rochagem will be taking place in Brasília. With the help of various Brazilian Institutions, the congress will cover topics on the most recent cutting edge research, as well as regulation and mineral production for soil remineralization to form a coherent policy making strategy. The conference will be attended by Carlos Cristan and Alberto Machado, our international coordinator in Brazil as well as many agrogeologists from Canada and South America. The conference is being sponsored by Petrobras and other companies and government agencies and it is organized by researchers from the University of Brazil.

Chef Dan Barber and the Culinary Art of Real Food

barber.jpgThe March-April issue of Organic Connections magazine has a great article on Chef Dan Barber, an outstanding proponent of the Real Food movement. He is co-owner and renowned chef of the famed Blue Hill Restaurant in Manhattan as well as Blue Hill Stone Farms in Pocantico Hills, NY. His culinary acumen is legendary. He has found that crops dense with nutrients have the best flavor. Barber and his growers are all firm believers in remineralization of the soil - that is, the restoration of the broad spectrum of nutrients to soil to that it provides proper nutrition to crops.

Originally filmed by BBC Television, the Seer Centre in Scotland has received enormous media coverage through the years in newspapers and on the radio and television in the UK. Their center attracts many visitors every year and has been supported by the actor Sean Connery. They now have a product in the UK distributed by Angus Horticulture Ltd.

Don Weaver's Letter to President Obama

Don Weaver of RTE has written a letter to President Obama, highlighting several ecological issues and explaining the importance of soil remineralization.

Remineralization Mentioned on NPR

On Monday, April 13, Michael Saint of the Good Earth Landscape Institute was interviewed on NPR.   During the interview, he stressed the importance of remineralization, in addition to other sustainability issues.  Michael Saint wll also be appearing on local Fox 2 News in Michigan on Arbor Day (April 24).

The Good Earth Landscape Institute is a member of Remineralize the Earth as well as several other environmental organizations.  They offer a range of classes in gardening and horticulture, and  are very involved with sustainability issues.  More information can be found here, on the Good Earth Landscape Institute website.

The produce from his fields is so bursting with taste and nutrition, that a number of years ago, he was hand picked by world-famous chef Alice Waters to supply fruits and vegetables to her Chez Panisse restaurant.
