Alleviating Hunger and Poverty in Cameroon

Remineralize the Earth is partnering with Research and Education Centre for Development (CREPD) to develop an agroforestry project to benefit small farmers in Cameroon - utilizing rock dust and intercropping nitrogen-fixing jatropha with fruit and nut trees to restore soils, increase yields, and provide food, fuel and income for local communities. Basalt Powder Restores Soil Fertility and Greatly Accelerates Tree Growth on Impoverished Tropical Soils in Panama

At the Panama site, the local was mitigated for clearance of the the basalt quarry. The geology of the terrain contained organic minerals such as pleistocene pyroclastic ashes, volcanic tuffs, with a basalt lava outcrop. The soil was highly infertile, with several nutrient limitations. The area was lacking any forestation besides the secondary pioneer which remained after the area was cleared for pasture. The level or precipitation  was 2500mm/yr, with an elevation of 600m. The acacia mangnium trees were planted in the basalt quarry rock, local soil and transition zone. ...

Stonemeal Technology: Changing the poverty scenario in Brazil

Stonemeal technique within an agro-geo-ecological, technological context was introduced to a specific group of family farmers in the state of Bahia, northeast of Brazil as part of a partnership between the University of Brasilia and the Bahia State government. The group was composed of ‘afrodescent’ farmers who live in isolated communities. The ’Cio da Terra Project’ aims at improving soils and agricultural production, and serves about 1200 families in ten communities. In general, communities do not have access to official financing, suitable technical assistance ...

The potential of remineralization with rock mineral fines to transform agriculture, forests, sustainable biofuels production, sequester carbon, and stabilize the climate

Soil Remineralization creates fertile soils by returning the minerals to the soil, much the same way the Earth does: by weathering of minerals from rocks and is one of the most effective techniques for dealing with global climate change. Rock powders provide a natural way to replenish soil fertility. Forests can grow much more rapidly when limiting factor minerals are replaced, and eroded, and desertified lands can be brought back to life with simple proper remineralization protocols. Most importantly for humanity, and potentially the environment, agricultural lands can ...
